Expert Carpentry, Built on a Sound Foundation.
From trim and molding to door installation and wood rot repair, Rainfall Painting handles rot, damaged trim, and failing wood before we ever pick up a brush — so your finished project holds up for years.
Our 4-Step Wood Repair & Carpentry Process
Wood failure left untreated always becomes a bigger, more expensive problem. Our carpentry services address rot, damaged trim, and failing wood before we ever pick up a brush — so your paint job has a sound foundation to last.
Site Protection & Staging
We clear a 6–8 foot workspace around the affected area to provide safe access for ladders and equipment. Heavy-duty tarps protect plants and landscaping, while fragile items like light fixtures and house numbers are removed or shielded before work begins.
- Workspace cleared and staged for safe access
- Plants and landscaping protected with tarps
- Fixtures and fragile items removed or shielded
Assessment & Demolition
A successful repair starts with identifying the root cause of wood failure, not just the visible damage. We inspect to locate compromised fascia, soffits, and trim where moisture has penetrated, then remove damaged sections one area at a time to maintain the home's weather seal and structural integrity.
- Root cause identified, not just visible damage
- Damaged sections removed while preserving weather seal
- Underlying framing and sheathing inspected for soundness
Precision Installation
All replacement lumber is primed on all six sides — including end cuts — prior to installation, preventing water from wicking into the grain. New metal flashing and high-performance flashing tape are integrated around windows and doors to direct water away from the structure.
- Replacement lumber primed on all six sides
- New flashing integrated to direct water away
- Weather-resistant hardware, installed for natural wood movement
Sealing & Final Inspection
High-flexibility elastomeric sealant is applied to all joints and seams to prevent future moisture intrusion. Nail holes are filled and all repaired areas are sanded smooth for a seamless surface ready for paint, followed by a full walkthrough to confirm flashing, drainage, and site restoration.
- All joints and seams sealed against moisture
- Repaired areas sanded smooth and paint-ready
- Full walkthrough to confirm the repair holds

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before booking your free estimate.
What types of carpentry work do you do?
We handle a wide range of finish carpentry, including trim installation and repair, baseboards, crown molding, door casings, window trim, fascia boards, and wood rot repair.
What is wood rot repair and do I need it?
Wood rot happens when moisture gets behind siding, trim, or around windows and doors over time. Repair involves removing the damaged wood, replacing it with primed material, and preparing the area for paint.
Do you combine carpentry and painting in the same project?
Yes — we can repair rotted or damaged wood and paint everything in one visit, so the finished result is seamless and you don't have to coordinate two separate contractors.
How do I know if my trim or fascia needs to be replaced vs. just repainted?
We check during your free estimate. Painting over rot doesn't fix the problem — it just hides it temporarily — so we'll tell you honestly what needs replacing versus what can simply be repainted.
Can you match existing trim or molding profiles?
In most cases, yes. We work to find a matching profile so repairs blend in seamlessly with your home's existing trim and molding.
